Art Nouveau into Art Deco Iron and Pressed Glass Chandelier
Item #2241 SOLD
A beautiful, lyrical chandelier that perfectly displays the evolution of Art Nouveau into Art Deco. It has all the exuberance and swirly curly lines of Art Nouveau, along with the interplay of dark iron and light glass .
At the same time it also captures the style of pressed glass ( “pate de verre”) that was a trademark of the Deco era. Wonderful and dimensional glasswork like this is something special. For those people that think “Deco” is cold, sterile, industrial and all about black leather and chrome details, here is an example of the more ornate early ”Art Deco” that came from France, England, and Eastern Europe. It is richly romantic and decorative.
This chandelier has a good center fixture and three “bell” shades that cast plenty of light.
