Edouard Cazaux Art Deco Vase “Diane” Molded Glass Vase, Gueron France, ca. 1935

This exceptional Art Deco vase by renowned French sculptor and ceramist Edouard Cazaux (1889–1974) is a striking example of sculptural glass artistry from the 1930s. Marked “Gueron France,” this piece was produced during Cazaux's collaboration with Etablissements Etling and Marcel Gueron, who were instrumental in bringing fine pâte de verre and molded glass works to collectors during the interwar period.

Titled “Diane,” this book-listed vase features a remarkable high-relief design: on one side, a sensuous nude female figure rendered in frosted glass with a satin finish; on the reverse, a stylized scene of a deer flanked by birds in flight, echoing the mythological allusions to the goddess Diana, protector of wildlife and femininity. The vase’s round, organic form complements its ethereal imagery, while its tactile surface and soft translucency are hallmarks of French Art Deco elegance.

Crafted circa 1935, this piece reflects Cazaux’s distinct sculptural language—an intersection of classicism and modernism. Rare and collectible, this vase is a testament to the decorative arts of pre-war France and offers a powerful visual statement in any Art Deco interior.
