Art Deco Original European German Buffet

Art Deco Original European buffet, purchased from the granddaughter of the original owner. It was brought from Germany to the US in the 1930s. A unique design with great shapes and a lot of details. The design has a stair-stepped faceted treatment with some cubist influence overall. The buffet has an unusual stair-stepped drawer and door openings, insides are all finished in black with a matching black acorn foot design. This design allows each corner to have multiple feet for both balance and aesthetic design. Notice the checkerboard edging going around the top.

The wood looks like a European amboyna and or a burl walnut with lots of figure in the choices of veneer used. Notice how the corners of each piece and the base are all notched or stepped to match which helps give this understated cubist style to the piece and many solid woods which makes this a very substantial piece for custom furniture.
