Art Deco Dutch Mantle Clock
Item #2541 SOLD
Another Art Deco Mantle Clock from the “Amsterdam School” of Design. This has the traditional eight day wind movement with its original big brass key that lets you enjoy a week of time-keeping and an hourly bell chime without the needs for electric cords or batteries, just the satisfying act of the “wind up”. It has the streamlined look with refined ornamentation in the form of mixed woods- dark macassar and oak with a touch of metal trim.
These Dutch clocks fit beautifully in an Arts and Crafts , Jugendstil or “Deco” environment with their arched shapes and golden oak. The door in the backside opens to reveal the simplicity of the inner works. It reminds us of lifting the hood of an old American auto with no computers, nothing complicated just the clearly functioning parts you can observe.
We are especially fond of Dutch Deco and our descriptions of other clocks of this genre on our website will make interesting reading for you if you click on the links below.
To get you in the mood to “Go Dutch” here are lavish examples of Amsterdam School and German Expressionism
