Crystal Art Deco Decanter Set with Glasses

A wonderful zig-zag Art Deco decanter and five glasses – attributed to Karl Palda, the avant grade glass artist in Czechoslovakia whose modernist designs are so highly prized 90 years after their creation. Every country had its particular contribution to the “Artes Decoratifs” and the Czech glass is simply the best.

The heavy crystal is both etched and decorated with a special baked-in enamel , with an unusual asymmetrical pattern. The carved stopper is a beauty . What an elegant way to offer a drink!

Why five glasses you may ask?

 A pessimist would say ” there were six and one was lost along the way”

Ah but an optimist would say

 ”the set includes four glasses- but how fortunate you are to have an extra!”
