Art Deco Nickeled Bronze Panther Statue on Marble Base

A nickel plated bronze panther looks ready to pounce from his marble base and has exceptional detail.  Everything from the brushed coat to the snarling teeth and the pose that conveys a defiance and power is captured in this French sculpture from the 1930's.

The big cats were a great, iconic  symbol of the Art Deco Era and cougars, jaguars, tigers and panthers "OH MY" were often portrayed in art and sculpture. Although this one does not bear a signature, its materials give it extra value. It is bronze, not spelter metal and the Italian marble in pink and charcoal grey adds to the handsome presentation.
