Art Deco French Bronze Sculpture of Panther and Gazelle by Ouline
Item #3344
Art Deco French Bronze Sculpture of Panther and Gazelle by Alexander Ouline portraying animals in action, a kind of abstract forest floor in bronze all mounted on a wooden base. Ouline was a Belgian artist, working in France from 1918- 1940, famous for his powerful sculptures of muscular “men in action” and sleek animals ready to pounce.
The panther and the gazelle were popular, iconic animals of the Art Deco period, so often used as a symbol of speed and strength. Ouline captures the physicality of the panther, the look of determination on its face and renders it in beautifully patinated bronze. This large statue, a duet of the two animals would anchor any buffet, mantle or display which might be considered home.
