Art Deco Pheasant Birds Statue by Rochard Unique

Art Deco Birds Statue by Rochard is a unique treatment of two pheasant birds in contrasting positions. Both figures are mounted on a beautiful base that has been crafted in three colors, marble, quartz, and silver metal. The signature Rochard is etched in the corner of the black marble. This piece is made of spelter with a small repair on one of the tails which has been repaired and is hardly noticeable.

 

Irenee Rochard was born on January 16th, 1906 in Villefranche-sur-Saone (Rhone).and died in Paris in 1984. This French artist worked on statues during the Deco years and became famous for wonderful representations of birds and animals as well as female subjects. Rochard was a student in the Beaux-Arts and Arts Decorative schools from 1924-1928 and a member of the French Artists Society from 1938 onwards. Many varied spelter and bronze sculptures by Rochard feature panthers and cougars. This striking piece with is rarely seen or offered for sale!
