A distinctive French Art Deco table lamp by Jacques Adnet, dating from the 1930s. The stem is composed of a vertical series of rounded crystal spheres, creating a sculptural and highly modern profile. The transparent glass contrasts beautifully with the plated metal base and broad domed reflector shade, giving the lamp a strong Machine Age character.
The lamp retains its original period appearance and has been newly wired for use in the United States with a vintage style on and off switch and US plug. It retains the typical French bayonet socket for the light bulb. When illuminated, the light travels through the stacked crystal elements and produces a warm glow throughout the entire stem.
Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) was an important French architect and designer known for combining geometric simplicity with refined materials and elegant proportions. At the height of his career, he designed interiors for the private apartments of the French president at the Élysée Palace and contributed to the meeting rooms at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. This unusual lamp reflects his ability to unite modern construction with sophisticated decorative design.
