Wonderful Iron and Alabaster Art Deco Floor Lamp Torchiere

In our continual attempt to acquire some unusual art deco pieces, we were fortunate to have this spectacular Iron floor lamp / torchiere custom made for our shop. We have been offering some outstanding iron pieces completed in a small work shop in South America. The challenge this time, since we had never done iron lighting like this, was  to also find a master alabaster artisan to come up with just the right style of shade.  This alabaster has the beautiful amber aged patina so we certainly got  just what we wanted. Most alabaster pieces you find newly made today  are about as white as a refrigerator. This one shows the dark veins and looks as if it has been sitting inside a home for 75 years soaking it all in like a piece from a stage set of “Sunset  Boulevard.” The lamp is substantial and fairly heavy due to the the  ironwork done in classic “fer forge ” method. It will certainly add that special glow of  ambient light and offer another dimension  to your  period lighting.
