French Art Deco Professional Desk by Michel Dufet

Item #1886 SOLD

Important restored Art Deco desk by French designer Michel Dufet.  This is a very unusual design and can be referred to as Rationalist (a trend introduced into Europe at the start of the 20th century, which maintained a strong commitment to the conquests of the aesthetics of Cubism) or Modernist and is made up of three kinds of woods. The shape is quite unusual it is wider in the middle and narrows to the front and back.  It is pictured in the book with the opposite color treatment.  It has a very unusual complex table drawer that can be engaged by pulling it upwards through a metal channel built into the left sides of the drawer supports.  There are a set of drawers on both sides for storage.  The desk has been carefully restored and is ready for service.  To find a unique French desk, with historic information does not come around often, this one not only looks great but will also function fully to serve the next lucky owner.

In 1929 the French sculptor Bourdelle chose him as the architect to design his own museum. Subsequently, Dufet devoted an important part of his time to the promotion of Bourdelle.
