1930s Art Deco Bar Cabinet • Bauhaus

Item #1171 SOLD

Here’s a very swift 1930s Art Deco mini-bar-cabinet that’s been faithfully restored and dutifully preserved. Made with contrasting wood tones and designed with wonderfully geometric, architectural shapes, the piece is then further “set-off” with a striking and very Bauhaus-inspired cream-orange color lacquered top, base trim and side-door interior. The curved side doors feature metal retainers to protect glasses and small bottles, while the larger locking cabinet was designed to hold liquor bottles and such. The strong Modernist shape of this cabinet and bold contrasting tones make for a virtual example of Art Deco design at its finest.

About Bauhaus:

Bauhaus (“House of Building” or “Building School”) is the common term for the Staatliches Bauhaus, a school in Germany that combined crafts and fine arts and was famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. It operated from 1919 to 1933.
