Rare Rectangular Art Deco Modernist Crystal Vase • Signed by A. Riecke, 1937

This rare, large and extremely collectable circa. 1937 rectangular Art Deco Modernist Crystal Vase was commissioned by the famous restaurant, La Coupole, in the Montparnasse district of Paris. This stunning piece is made of very heavy glass and has two hexagonal chrome plated brass handles at either side. The thick Modernist streamline design is etched onto both long sides of the rectangle. Additionally the piece is signed by the artist “A. Riecke” 1937″.

About A. Riecke and La Coupole: Between 1930 and 1937, the restaurant La Coupole would commission Russian artist A. Riecke (living in Paris) to design and create an edition of etched glass pieces. They often have the year and a logo etched into the glass. Riecke is also known to have worked with the glass artist Lalique.
