Outstanding French bronze Art Deco Sculpture by Claire Colinet

Item #1389 SOLD

This is a fabulous bronze, so rich in detail, design and beauty. Maybe one of the finest examples of bronze art we ever offered. The name is “La Danseuse de Thebes” circa 1925 and this rather sexy woman is portrayed with all the trappings of an art deco Theban dancer (or Egyptian Dancer). There is even a bronze hieroglyphics on the front of the piece, maybe heavily influenced by the discovery of Tutankhamun circa 1922. I think I might have known this woman in another life time ( which goes with the Egyptian mythology anyhow). The piece was executed by Claire Jeanne Roberte Godchaux Colinet, listed in Benzoit, an extraordinary piece so please take a moment to look at the details of the folds in the dress, the necklace and hand beading throughout. It is also just as remarkable from the front as from the back. The dress has a faint cold painted gold gilt with stands away from the nickeled bronze beauty of her body. This piece will certainly takes your breath away. This piece previously sold at Christies in January 2008 at the time for 7000 GBP which roughly translates to about $13,500 dollars, so keep in mind this is not for the light hearted and light pockets! All information is available on request.
