Art Deco Bronze Statue by Kelety "The Pheasant"

Item #1501 SOLD

“The Pheasant” signed statue by Alexandre Kelety, whose work was exhibited at the 1925 Paris Exhibition. It is a striking pose, somewhat with an Egyptian motif, very interesting patina and color, in excellent original condition. Black Belgian marble base inscribed with both signature and “etling paris”! Very striking pose, one of the most beautiful deco birds I have seen.

Alexander Kelety Bio: (dob unknown-1940) Born in Budapest, Hungary. Kelety studied sculpture at Toulouse with Imre Seamy before studying in Paris where he exhibited at the salons in the years between the wars. (Kelety worked from 1918 until his death in 1940) One of the best known Art Deco period sculptors, whose works are highly sought after by collectors. Kelety sculpted the human form and animals with grace and a flowing movement. He worked primarily in bronze, but works in ceramics and painting are also forms of medium used by Kelety.
