Art Deco bronze deer sculpture by Georges Lavroff. French Art Deco silvered bronze panther by Georges Lavroff (1895-1991), a Russian born sculptor, who lived and worked in France. Signature G. Lavroff on the base of the bronze. Sleek silver finish depicting small deer laying on its lower side with legs extended. Original condition in very nice circa 1930.

 

George Lavroff, born in Siberia on April 18, 1895. He first produces sculptures in Siberia, then in Moscow. In 1927, George Lavroff is sent to France where he creates many art déco animal sculptures, produced in bronze and ceramics by several art editors. These sculptures bring him fame in the Western world. In 1935, George Lavroff returns to Moscow where he becomes an official artist and creates monumental sculptures and busts of Soviet rulers.
