Painting by Mary Dambiermont born in Belgium1932-1983 This is an aquarelle that evokes the sensual style of Tamara de Lempicka, but was in fact done by a Belgian artist in the 1950s. Mary Dambiermont was a member of the Young Art Brabant and the International Art Circle.

She is especially well known for her tapestry designs and her most famous work was commissioned for the Worlds Exposition in Brussels 1958 when she was chosen to create large tapestries for the St. Anthony’s Church.

She worked in watercolors, oils and pastel and was also a designer of rugs, fabric and stained glass.Her earliest work was in the creation of sets and costumes for theater. Her training was at the Academy of Brussels and the J.Anto Map Maes. She was awarded prizes in several important competitions.
