Art Deco sterling silver bowl by Atelier Borgila circa the 1930s.The bowl is beautifully made and has just been professionally polished. There are Perfect markings and signature on the bottom. Extremely fine dimensional edge work and worthy of many practical and decorative uses.
Atelier Borglia was founded in Stockholm in 1921 by the designer Baron Erik Fleming (1894-1954) . Fleming studied in Germany to be an engineer and architect. He became a silversmith by chance after dabbling in metalwork, and quickly found success. He was known for his commissions for the Swedish royal family and even fashioning a humidor for Winston Churchill’s famed cigars. Atelier Borgia exhibited at the world fair in Chicago in 1933 and some of the pieces have been collected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
