Art Nouveau WMF Silver and Glass Punch Bowl

Item #2139 SOLD

This opulent Silver and Etched Glass Punch Bowl and Ladle are the very epitome of Art Nouveau design……It has all the romantic elements- the swirling silver base, the delicate repousee decoration on the lid, and the graceful ladle. A pattern is lightly etched in the glass bowl and the finial on top will let you lift the lid with a flourish !

The marking on the bottom is from Anezin Hnos. y Cia (Anezin Hermanos and Company) which was the exclusive importer of WMF products to Argentina. In 1910, the German Company WMF became famous for its Art Nouveau style and and established companies for worldwide exports, one of which was to Argentina. When Harrods’s Department Store opened in 1912 they became a major importer of this style of decorative pieces, which would have been brokered through the Anezin Hermanos Cia.

You may not know this, but Art Deco Collection actually  predicted the resurgence of the Martini many years ago, and began to amass a group of cocktail shakers and accessories. And now we are ready to announce our prediction that  ”Punch” (especially served in spectacular punch bowls like this beauty ) is due for a revival !

Here is a recipe for Melon Punch:

½ cup sugar – 3-5 tablespoons brandy – 1 (750-milliliter) bottle white wine or sparkling wine, chilled – Melon (such as watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew diced or (better yet) use a melon baller! – Grapes, halved – 1 (1-liter) bottle club soda 1. In a large pitcher, stir sugar and brandy until paste-like mixture. 2. Add wine and fruit. 3. Refrigerate to keep chilled until ready to serve. 4. Pour into punch bowl and add club soda.
