Complete French Silverware Service by Ravinet d' Enfert in Wooden Chest

A flawless and complete silver service for 12 with ten pieces in each place setting and eleven unique serving pieces by the French company Ravinet d’Enfert. Nestled in a beautiful wooden silverware chest with a fitted felt lining that holds each piece in place while protecting the finish from scratches and tarnish.

The French company was started in 1882 by Louis Ravinet and joined by Charles d’Enfert in 1891. Between 1925 and 1940 they were well known and highly regarded for their sleek and restrained Art Deco designed flatware that was a departure from the ornate work they had previously done. Elegant in simplicity and luxurious to the touch, we think that after eating with “maillechort argente” silver  You may never want to use stainless steel again!

The set contains place settings that include dinner and luncheon forks and knives, soup, tea, dessert, and demitasse spoons and fish forks and knives as well as eleven great serving pieces. The name of this pattern is Navarre, named for the medieval city build around Pamplona in the Basque Region of Spain.

This immaculate was purchased in Argentina and was imported by the Joyeria Castagnino ( jewelry and silver shop) which was a purveyor of fine French and English wares in Buenos Aires in the 1930s.  The wooden box has a nice grain, ivoroid keyholes, and the original key. We often have these kinds of linings restored but this one, in excellent condition is original. It is possible that this set was never used and has been waiting for you all these years!
