Complete original Oak box 3 tray silverware service Hallmark AnezinItem #1691 SOLD A very complete original tableware service in exceptional high quality silver plate. Pre dates the art deco period, but very wonderful and complete presentation. I love to find these with the original box, this one is complete with three trays, all pieces fitted and perfect. The set was made in Argentina by a company that sold in Paris and throughout Argentina: Buenos Aires & Rosario. The name Anezin Brothers on each piece stamped with their name (more like Gumps or Tiffany's, very high end). The quality reflected in repousse: a metalworking technique which takes metal and makes it malleable to form ornamentation by hammering. Considered by most, a lost art today. Look closely at the details of the handles and backs of each piece. Elegant, ornate open work with flowers and leaves. Lots of wonderful scroll design on some of the serving pieces as well! |

Very rare silver-plate WMF Modernist two bottle wine/champagne coolerItem #1608 SOLD Gosh these are about as rare as "hens teeth". The double or triple bottle wine cooler or champagne bucket. This is a particularly refined example made by the famous German company WMF (inscribed on the bottom). Notice the modernist design of the stylized zig-zag faceted shapes imbedded in the oval shape. Nice strong ebony handles also fitting extremely well with the over-all shape. The only thing missing here is the party and friends needed to make a very festive time with an unusually rare and festive double cooler champagne bucket. How cool is that? measurements: |

Spectacular German WMF Silverplate Art Nouveau Tea and Coffee SetItem #1450 SOLD This five piece set is a perfect example of transitional design as its fluid, Art Nouveau embellishments also have an early Art Deco point of view. It is ornate, yet refined. Organic and geometric. It's one of the best we have been able to offer and silver tea and coffee services are one of our specialties. Whether you use it every day , or simply leave it to decorate a dining table or buffet it will bring a touch elegance into your home. Every piece is in outstanding condition, including the tray with its wonderful octagonal shape. The tiny decorative element is a fish motif. and the pattern is most unusual. The set bears the marks of the WMF silver company, the intials of the famous German foundry " Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik", most often simply called WMF. It was founded in the 1853 as a partnership between Daniel Straub and Josef and Friedrich Schweizer, and in 1892 developed a special technique for silver plating in which the silver coating is of double thickness in any parts that will be exposed to greater wear and tear. This patented process is called "Perfect Hard Silver Plating". In 1910, under the art direction of Albert Mayer, WMF became famous for its Art Nouveau style and established companies for world wide exports in London, Warsaw and Vienna. Many pieces were sent to Argentina between 1910 and 1930, and it is likely that Harrods Department Store which opened in Buenos Aires in 1912 was one of the major importers of decorative pieces such as this tea and coffee set. Exceptionally Rare Sterling Art Deco Cocktail Shaker, Tray and GlassesItem #1339 SOLD Offered today is possibly one of the rarest cocktail shaker sets you will ever have the opportunity to buy! Here is what I know and I think. During the 1930's some very rare sterling hand made sterling cocktail sets were made for the American market (I think it is originally from Japan, there are NO maker marks). The set is of course marked sterling and you must know how unusual it is to find a sterling shaker, let alone a tray and matching glasses. I have seen something similar once before In Barnaby Conrad's book, The Martini, where he highlights, FDR's passion for martini's. This set is very close to the set that FDR owned with a kind of plant/bamboo details. This sterling set is somewhat ornate for typical Art Deco fans, but fabulous and of quality workmanship. It would be considered Repousse (A method of embossing a metal sheet by punching and hammering a design from the back, then polishing it up in front with a chasing hammer, producing a three-dimensional bas-relief surface.) The design has fine details of hammered etching with flowers, plant leaves embellished on every piece, so spectacular. This is certainly not for everyone, but if you desire something of quality and significance, please do not wait, I am sure this won't be here long. I have been buying and selling cocktail barware for almost 20 years and have never seen a set like this. 8 pieces in total, shaker, tray and 6 glasses and in sterling. A dry martini possibly could not taste better in anything as fine as this. The Measurements: |

Art Deco French Dinanderie vase signed StlenofItem #1318 SOLD A very high quality and beautiful bronze vase having an etched acid relief design with bright nickel and red enamel decoration , the artist Stlenof, would first hand make the bronze vase and then it would be nickel plated and painted with an acid resist , the design was then cut through the resist and the vase would be dipped in Nitric Acid to etch the design in to the bronze, certain parts of the design were then highlighted with red enamel . On this particular vase the etching would have been done in two or more applications as the relief on the pattern is at varying depths - very highly skilled work . It's a great shape and a good size at 12 1/2" high and 7" diameter at the widest part , in superb condition all round with a nice soft patina to the nickel that only comes with time. |

1930s Art Deco Iron and Marble Side-TableItem #1156 SOLD This 1930s Art Deco Iron and Marble side-table can certainly be used to support a vase or a statue but I like it best when used as a ring-side (okay, chair-side) beverage table. Seriously, this beautiful machine-age table with its gear-inspired scallop edged top and trio of legs and truly gorgeous multi-colored marble top will become your favorite "everything" table. Its heavy enough to support a large vase and yet small enough to be moved from place to place for those on-the-spot needs. 1930s Art Deco Greyhound Desk Set • Signed "Grigio"Item #1100 SOLD There are many perfunctorily fine desk sets out there. But this is not one of them. Yes, this has a pen holder and will hold your pen. It also has two covered ink wells for holding two different colors of ink. But that's where the finely tailored function ends and the mood elevating art begins. In fact, this beautiful set just may inspire you to put away the mouse and keyboard for a while and rediscover the fine and sadly almost extinct art of letter writing. If you lack inspiration, just look to the strolling greyhounds (one seems to be extolling the virtues of letter writing while the other listens attentively) for that creative boost. This beautiful "treasure-of-a-set" was artistically and lovingly constructed in the 1930s. The stately Greyhounds are made of polished aluminum while the ink wells are made of finely faceted crystal and fitted with polished aluminum tops as well as polished aluminum supports. Finally, the pen holder is also made of polished aluminum. Everything sits comfortably on a cream-colored marble base with polished aluminum disks for feet. This rare Art Deco desk set is signed "Grigio" on one of the dogs paws. The Measurements: |

Item #896 SOLDVery important statue light by Edgar Brandt. This is one of the most famous Brandt lamps and in a size that is quite rare as the serpent image, called La Tentation. Generally, you see this lamp in the Cobra version, maybe it was more popular but the serpent is much more rare. These Brandt pieces come up in auction from time to time but not the serpent. I have here a fantastic original pieces, purchased from the granddaughter of the woman who owned it. It came to the US via Canada. Look at the detail of the bronze, unmolested in any way, with original Daum glass, cloth chord, switch and plug. This piece was originally purchased sometime between 1920- 1926 and as you can see from the Brandt showroom photo, these were made in two sizes 41" the floor lamp model and 20 3/4" inches representing the piece for sale here. I guarantee this is an authentic Brandt lamp with authentic Daum glass. It is an important piece, signed on the bronze E Brandt France. This is an opportunity to own a very important Art Deco Object d' art, one with great provenance, quality and style. Please take the time to see all of the photos and witness one of E Brandt's most important works. Reference Master of Art Deco Ironwork by Joan Kahr. |
