Art Deco Movie Theater Light Sconces | Vanity Ballroom

Item #1885 SOLD

Historic lights from Detroit’s Vanity Ballroom which was  listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This stunning pair of Art Deco sconces is large and very special.  The metalwork is a polished aluminum and the different slag glass cut outs echo the design details from the front of the building. One of the great Art Deco dance halls, designed in 1929 by Charles Agree, was very popular in the 1930′s and 1940′s. The lights echo the Aztec theme as did much of the exterior and interior of the ballroom.  Each fixture has multiple pieces of glass that fit into slots and grooves. All lit up, they look amazing.  Pictures enclosed. The building is now abandoned but is still standing in the Jefferson-Chalmers Historic Business District of Detroit. It is the last intact ballroom of Detroit’s great dance halls of the big band era!

If you are lucky enough to have a place to use them, they are looking for their next home. Great for home theater room, entrance,  restaurant  or for a historic restoration project.
