Art Deco Gamet French Unique Enamel & Porcelain Limogue Box

A large and impressive octagon shaped enamel dresser box, French, early 20th Century and rendered in vibrant colors using five hand painted and slightly convex porcelain panels. The custom hand – tooled bronze/brass  frame  with stylized chevrons and corner details, supported by matching feet. Ultra rare Art Deco stylized picture and depicting two woman at home with detailed furnishings, clothing, curtains, carpets and two cats. All four side panels have dynamic triangular zig zag patterns in matching color treatments with the corners emulating a variegated ruby sunset.

 

Interior has been re-done like original padded felt lining.

 

It is signed Gamet France in lower right side. Gamet is known for these kinds of specially painted decorative items, with enamel applied to Limoges porcelain. They are highly collectable, fetching high prices at auction.

They are most often seen in much smaller sizes, used as bonbon jars, reflective of the period they were designed. To discover one with Art Deco motifs is exceptionally rare and very interesting. The one offered here is in exceptional original condition and very large.
