A stunning French Statue signed Limousin. The size is very large and the condition is excellent. Silvered patina on petite bronze metal depicting a woman with a painted dress holding a gold bird with widespread wings. The base is in excellent condition .She stands on beautiful Italian Portoro marble with a brown and green facade. The design is from the 1930′s and the piece in addition to being signed also has the foundry stamp “fabrication Francais Paris” made in France.
There was no country producing such excellent sculpture as did France during the Art Deco period, and this piece is a wonderful example of the artistry. Signed ‘Limousin’ in the metal. Limousin is a region in France that was a known for artists and sculptors, and often the region of production was used to identify a work rather than a company or artist’s name. This is a genuine period piece and is breathtaking in person.
